Nuclear Power
In 1974, France decided to invest nuclear power. It now accounts for 78% of France's electricity production which is the highest of any country in the world. As a result, France emits the least amount of carbon dioxide of the seven most industrialized countries in the world, emitting only 1.26% of the world's total carbon emission in 2008, as opposed to China emitting 23.53% and the United States emitting 18.27%.
